Molar for root canal reprocessing
Technical description
Mandibular molar filled with gutta percha and zinc oxide eugenol cement. This tooth has a Weine type II root canal anatomy in each root (2 independent entries, 1 common exit).
In the mesial root, the filling is interrupted before the junction of the 2 canals. Concerning the distal root, the clinical situation simulates a failure of anaesthesia and thus an insufficient preparation and obturation of the most lingual canal. The second distal canal is not prepared.
Pedagogical objective
Removal of obturation material using specific mechanical instrumentation.
Negotiate the uninstrumented canal portions.
Preparation and obturation of the common root canal portion of both canals.
